The Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, via the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has opened applications for Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD programs for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
Additionally, the Government of Egypt has allocated fifteen (15) Undergraduate Scholarship Slots under the EGYAID Scholarship Programme specifically for Zambian students. These scholarships are available exclusively for Bachelor’s Degree programs through the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB).
Application Categories
1. HELSB-Supported Scholarships
Applicants seeking financial support from HELSB must submit physical applications to HELSB by the stipulated deadline. The Fifteen (15) scholarship slots available for HELSB support are in the following priority programmes:
- General Medicine
- Economics and International Trade
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Computer Science
- Artificial Intelligence
- Tourism and Hotel Management
- Physical Therapy
- Oral and Dental Medicine
- Applied Health Sciences
- Veterinary Medicine
- Energy and Environmental Engineering
Applicants seeking HELSB support must select a programme from this list and meet the admission requirements.
2. Self-Sponsored Applicants
Applicants wishing to pursue studies in Egypt on a self-sponsored basis may apply directly through the Study in Egypt Platform.
This category applies to:
- All Masters applicants
- All PhD applicants
- Undergraduate applicants who do not require financial support from HELSB

Eligibility Criteria for HELSB-Supported Applicants
Applicants should:
- Be Zambian citizens with a Green National Registration Card (NRC);
- Be able to obtain a valid passport;
- Have completed Grade 12 within the last four (4) years (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025);
- Possess Grades 1-3in English Language, Mathematics and subjects relevant to the intended field of study;
- Pure Science subjects are required for Medicine and Engineering programmes;
- Be between 18 and 19 years of age by December 2026:
- Be academically outstanding and capable of meeting admission requirements of Egyptian universities;
- Not be beneficiaries of HELSB sponsorship locally or abroad.
Application Requirements for HELSB Support
Applicants seeking HELSB support must submit:
- A typed application letter clearly stating the preferred programme of study, age and active mobile phone number;
- Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- Certified copies of Grade 12 Certificate and Statement of Results/Transcript;
- Certified copy of National Registration Card (NRC)
- A study plan or motivation statement of not more than 200 words explaining how the intended programme of study will contribute to Zambia’s development;
- A clear copy of the NATSAVE deposit slip for the non-refundable application fee of ZMW100.
NOTE:
No cash payments will be accepted at HELSB offices.
It is a requirement by the host country that all nominated candidates undergo comprehensive medical examinations including HIV, Hepatitis A & B tests, Tuberculosis and Pregnancy test for females upon being nominated. These tests will be done again in Egypt before commencement of classes
Conditions of the Scholarship
Successful candidates shall be responsible for meeting any costs not covered by the scholarship. These include, but are not limited to:
- Expenses incurred in travelling to and from the airport; and
- Any shortfall in costs that may not be adequately covered by the scholarship package provided by the host country or institution.

- Applicants who do not hear from HELSB by 31st July 2026 should consider their applications unsuccessful.
- Students currently on HELSB sponsorship locally or abroad should not apply for HELSB support.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Applicants should apply in only one field of study.
- Nomination by HELSB does not guarantee the award of a scholarship, as final admission and scholarship decisions rest with the relevant Egyptian authorities and institutions.
- Applicants who withdraw after nomination may be subjected to sanctions, including possible blacklisting from future scholarship opportunities.
