Applications are invited from suitably qualified Zambian nationals to apply for the Moroccan Government Scholarship under the International Master in Water and Sustainable Horticulture (WSH) Programme offered by the Agadir Horticultural Complex (CHA) under the Hassan Il Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (IAV), Morocco.

The programme is supported by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMC) and will be offered in English for a duration of two (2) years, commencing in September 2026.

The Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), has allocated one (1) scholarship slot to the Republic of Zambia under the International Master in Water and Sustainable Horticulture (WSH) programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Accordingly, only one candidate shall be nominated by the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) for consideration by the Moroccan authorities.

Programme Objectives

The programme seeks to train highly skilled professionals capable of addressing challenges relating to:

  • Water resources management;
  • Sustainable horticultural production;
  • Climate resilience and adaptation of horticultural systems;
  • Urban vegetation management;
  • Research, innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture and horticulture; and
  • Development of technological, policy and financing mechanisms that promote sustainable horticultural development.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship is expected to cover:

  • Tuition fees;
  • Monthly living allowance; and
  • Other benefits as determined by the Government of Morocco and AMCI.

Successful candidates may also qualify for supplementary support in accordance with Government of Zambia and HELSB policies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be Zambian citizens with a valid Green National Registration Card (NRC):
    • Possess a valid passport or proof of application for a passport;
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following fields:
    • Agriculture,
    • Agronomy;
    • Rural Geography:
    • Biology;
    • Biotechnology; or
    • Related disciplines;
  • Have graduated with at least a Merit;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language,
  • Be medically fit and free from contagious diseases;
  • Be willing to undertake studies in Morocco on a full-time basis; and
  • Not be a beneficiary of another Government-sponsored scholarship at the time of application.

Application Methods

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  • A typed application letter responding to the advertisement, clearly stating the
  • intended programme of study, mobile phone number and email address;
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV):
  • Certified copy of National Registration Card (NRC);
  • Certified copy of valid passport or proof of application for a passport;
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate;
  • Certified copy of Grade 12 School Certificate and transcript/results slip:
  • Certified copies of all university degree certificates and transcripts;
  • Two (2) recent colour passport-size photographs;
  • A motivation letter or study statement of not more than 400 wods outlining:
    • Why the applicant wishes to pursue the programme;
    • Personal and professional expectations from the programme; and
    • How the programme will contribute to Zambia’s development;
  • Employer’s recommendation/reference letter indicating support for the applicant’s studies and confirming that the applicant will be granted study leave for the duration of the programme, where applicable (for employed applicants only).
  • A clear copy of the NATSAVE deposit slip for the K100 application fee.

Medical Requirements

Nominated candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive medical examinations, including HIV Test, Tuberculosis Test and Hepatitis Screening.

Applicants should further provide a medical certificate issued by a recognised public health institution confirming physical fitness and absence of contagious diseases.
