This is the most common dental entry point in Zambia, typically a 3-year Diploma. Dental Therapists are the “frontline” of oral health in rural districts. They bridge the gap between a dental assistant and a full surgeon.
Dental Therapists are trained to provide primary dental care. Their scope of work is more clinical than a technologist but less invasive than a surgeon. They perform cleanings, fillings, and simple extractions (usually on children).
