Radiation Therapy is a specialized branch of medicine that uses high-energy ionizing radiation (such as X-rays or gamma rays) to treat cancer and other diseases. It involves precise planning to destroy malignant cells while sparing healthy tissue.
This is a highly specialized field. Most of the practical training and clinical placement happens at the Cancer Diseases Hospital (CDH) in Lusaka, which is the national referral center for radiotherapy in Zambia.
Core Modules: Radiation Physics, Radiobiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Radiation Safety & Protection, Treatment Planning, Clinical Oncology, and Imaging for Radiotherapy.
Regulatory Body
Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and the Radiation Protection Authority (RPA).
